Enjoy the downturn

To the editor:
The Earth is saving big time and prolonging its raw resources.

Look at all the trees that won't be cut for lack of building due to the downturn.

Look at all the oil not used due to the downturn.

Look at all the material goods not bought due to the downturn.

Look at all the CO2 not produced due to the downturn.

Look at all the travel that will not be done due to the downturn where people will see their own back yards, cities and countryside instead of that of the other side of the world.

People might actually have to end up wearing their closets full of stuff they never use.

People might actually have to use up their material goods instead of filling up the landfills with perfectly good items.

By eating less people might actually start to approach a healthy weight.

By walking more people might actually start to move towards a healthy life style.

By having less income people might actually not be able to afford stupid life styles.

Hey, the downturn has its good points.

Enjoy.

Something smells fishy

To the editor:
RE: Driver's gender surprises victim

It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if the girl who admitted to leaving the scene of the accident on New Year’s Eve was lying to protect the real offender. Something smells fishy to me.

It also wouldn’t be the first time this has happened, nor will it be the last. She may be taking the rap for someone who is a repeat drunk driving offender or something else. I’m sure the RCMP will further investigate this as they too must see something questionable in this young lady's story.

Trina Parry said herself it did not look like the person who was driving. I hope the RCMP look into this further and try to get to the truth if the girl isn’t telling the whole truth. Perhaps a polygraph test is in order. The truth shall set you free they say.

If the girl is indeed lying she should be charged as well for her part in this matter. I just want to see justice for these victims as they are all lucky to be alive and the real perpetrator should be brought to justice. Someone out there knows the truth and hopefully they will come forward and help the police get to the bottom of this tragedy. Pets are members of their families and should get the justice they deserve as well.

I hope all of the victims make full recoveries and I would also like to pass along condolences to Trina Parry for the loss of her beloved pet Fuzz.

Landlords have no rights

To the editor:
RE: Landlords of BC, I need your help

Not sure how to respond to such article, but if you could please post back to Rick Mitchell the forum that my husband started about our ordeal with our tenant. It's under Career, Business & Consumer Advice entitled Landlords have no rights!

landlords have no rights

We were finally able to get our tenant out after serving him with a Notice for a Dispute Resolution hearing in order to obtain an Order of Possession. Our tenant did not show up for this hearing and we were awarded with the Order of Possession.

We of course will never rent to anyone again.

Bicycles and snow

To the editor:
There he was, cycling out by the airport on this terribly snowy Tuesday morning at 6:30 AM - basically one lane - very bad!

Thank God I car pool because it was the passenger that spotted the wee blinking red light. The rider was basically in my lane. I was going to gently move to the left, but no, that other anomaly of this weather was out there - the passing truck with no lane to spare, snow flying without a care. We almost came to a stop in order to give way to the cyclist. The truck was not even aware he was there until all three of us were almost side by side...so guess who would have hit and had the accident to spare the poor bicyclist?

So to both of you maniacs: bike - stay off the highway and truck - stop
passing when unsafe.

Thank goodness for carpooling !

Heavy snow warning
by Contributed - Story: 44251

Anyone with a 20 x 10 canvas style canopy/tent used for storage or carport be warned.

The level of snow we are having is too much weight for them and they will collapse without notice.

Remove all excess snow now!
